About The Artist
Angela McLeanSewing and fabrics have always been a part of my life. As a child, I went through 4-H and developed the skills needed to craft and create. In college I only attended one class in art and ended up with a degree in history/music. I spent most of my career in the museum field and working with antiques.
In 1997, while living in Aurora, NE, I formed my own company called Pieceful Dreams. Here I began designing quilts, kits, and patterns. My initial project was with QVC selling 3000 quilt kits called “Charmalade”. Packaged in quart jars, this charm quilt kit would take me to international markets where people in Iceland could put my kits together.
My husband Robb and I moved to Nebraska City in 2016 and I would invest in a Bernina sewing machine where I could sew baskets. Self-taught, I create each basket by hand weaving commercial fabrics around cotton rope. In some cases, I hand-dyed the rope as well.
I love trying new techniques, so I taught myself Russian punch needle. On a miniature scale the folk-art designs are typical of this particular type of art. I am now exploring designing my own patterns and making them into post cards and prints. I have won several awards for these designs.
I hope you enjoy these unique pieces and love them as much as I do in creating them.
